Online Crime
On line fraud & credit card fraud is all too common these days, especially with the growing number of internet transactions that are completed on a daily basis.
As an online children's clothing merchant, we wanted to share some actual examples of the numerous spam emails we receive daily. The purpose; to help educate in falling prey to these scam artists.
Paypal is a great service to use; we use this service for our online baby clothing transactions and exclusively for all of our ebay sales too. A service we highly recommend.
When you receive unsolicited emails from persons, informing you of purchases for products or services you typically would not make, let the alarms begin to ring! As you just may be in the initial stages of being challenged to give up your credit card and personal information.
Instances like these should set the red flags off. The hints are sometimes obvious, other times not. Things to look for are emails from unknown or unrecognized email addresses or unknown recent purchases.
Emails like these have the look of being real actual companies or transaction receipts, usually linking you to a log in page, asking you to log in first. If the person follows these types of links and enters this information, generally you will be sending off your personal information to some crooks on the receiving end. Make sure you don’t fall prey to these scam tactics; they could be prove dangerous and costly to you and your family.
Online Email Crime
If you receive an email like in the examples below, please be very cautious and don't click on of the links they provide. These links will re-direct you to an unsecured site some, where you will be prompted to enter your personal information. These emails are getting more sophisticated; some come complete with the company logo.
This is what these con artist's want, for you to give up your private information so they can steal your money and your identity. Please don't fall for this trap! Please look at some of these examples I have collected, so that you will become aware of what you could expect to receive next time you check your email.
